Guwahati, October 27, 2024 : Dipankar Barman, the prime accused in the high-profile DB Stock scam case, was apprehended in Goa on Sunday by a team from the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD). Acting on intelligence inputs, the operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Amit Mahato, IPS, of Pan Bazar, Guwahati, in collaboration with the Crime Branch of Goa Police.
Dipankar Barman had been evading arrest for several months following allegations of large-scale financial misconduct and fraud associated with DB Stock, a financial enterprise under investigation for swindling significant sums from investors. His evasion led authorities across multiple states to engage in an intensive manhunt as they sought justice for the numerous victims impacted by the scandal.
Upon confirming Barman’s location in Goa, ACP Mahato’s team, supported by local authorities from the Crime Branch of Goa Police, carried out a coordinated operation to ensure his arrest. Barman was taken into custody without incident, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
Speaking to the media, ACP Mahato acknowledged the inter-state cooperation and the Crime Branch of Goa Police’s assistance in ensuring Barman’s capture. “This arrest is a crucial step forward in our mission to provide justice to the victims and unravel the full extent of the DB Stock scam,” he said.
The accused will be brought back to Guwahati for further questioning as the investigation proceeds.
