ITANAGAR,22.02.2024: In a significant milestone, Arunachal Pradesh has emerged as a trailblazer in the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme, achieving 100% saturation in the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative. Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced that the state has become the first in the northeast and the tenth in the country to attain cent per cent saturation under this central government-sponsored scheme.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched in 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a visionary initiative aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all rural households in India by the year 2024.
Pema Khandu expressed his satisfaction with the state’s efforts, stating, “As per the census, we have achieved 100% saturation of implementation of this JJM scheme. We are No. 1 in Northeastern states & no. 10 in the entire country.” He highlighted the commitment and dedication of Team Arunachal in ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water for every household.
The Chief Minister emphasized that Arunachal Pradesh’s accomplishment in the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme reflects the state’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents. The achievement not only signifies a major success in meeting set targets but also demonstrates the effective utilization of funds allocated for the mission.
“A landmark accomplished in our collective efforts as Arunachal Pradesh logs 100 pc saturation of Har Ghar Jal under Jal Jeevan Mission! It exemplifies the total dedication and commitment of Team Arunachal in meeting the goals they set for themselves,” Khandu shared on social media.
The successful implementation of the JJM scheme in Arunachal Pradesh was made possible through a combined effort of the central and state governments. The substantial financial support, with Rs 396,541.22 lakh from the Centre and Rs 45,551.18 lakh from the state, ensured that every household in the state now has access to clean and safe piped water.
“First in the Northeast to fully implement JJM, we are determined to make an all-round improvement in our people’s ease of living. Odds and challenges are being surmounted in serving them. Proud of Team Arunachal!” the chief minister added.
Arunachal Pradesh’s achievement in the Jal Jeevan Mission sets an inspiring example for other states, highlighting the importance of collective efforts and determination in addressing essential needs and enhancing the overall well-being of the residents.
