GUWAHATI: In a bid to curb question paper leak incidents in various state-level examinations, the Assam government is going to introduce a new ordinance – Assam Public Examination (Measure for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Ordinance, 2023 making the maximum punishment of 10 years imprisonment and a fine from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 10 crore. GUWAHATI: Assam Police on Sunday announced that the Disturb Areas status under the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 was withdrawn from four districts of Assam while extending it in four districts for six months with effect from October 1. The districts from where the AFSPA was lifted are Jorhat, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.
