GUWAHATI: Assam governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday visited the Indo-Bangladesh international boundary and handed over a sweets packet to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops on duty near the international boundary.
Kataria visited Sahapara Border Out Post (BOP) of the 45 Battalion Border Security Force (BSF) under BSF Guwahati Frontier, in South Salamara Mankachar district.
Kataria was welcomed by BISF IG Dinesh Kumar Yadav.
The governor discussed operational preparedness and the functioning of BSF on international borders with the IG and other senior officers of BSF.
Kataria also interacted with Seema Praharis and planted saplings at Sahapar BOP to encourage people to environment protection and increase greenery.
The Governor has appreciated the BSF and expressed that the nation is indebted to the Bravehearts of BSF whose dedication and commitment to duty in still confidence & pride among the people of India.
Kataria hailed the commitment and dedication of the jawans and emphasized that it is through their hard work and dedication the people can enjoy peace, as they play a pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s borders.
He also acknowledged the paramount role played by the BSF in securing the borders and commended their unparalleled discipline.
The Governor highlighted the valuable contribution of women in the BSF and their significant role in border security.
The governor further mentioned the commitment of the Prime Minister to border security, including his tradition of celebrating Diwali with the jawans stationed at the borders.
He praised the unmatched sacrifices made by the jawans, who willingly sacrificed their family life for the security of the nation.
Kataria also met with the villagers residing along the border areas.
In his address to the community, the Governor emphasized the importance of education as a priority sector for societal development. He encouraged people to engage in education, as it holds the potential to bring about positive changes.
During this visit, MLA Mankachar Md Aminul Islam accompanied the governor and raised issues about the district.
