couple moved back to the victim’s parental house,” the Police Commissioner said.
“Saurabh Goenka, whose father runs a wholesale grocery business, secretly developed a romantic relationship with Gitashree Sinha while visiting the parlour (J Maya located at ABC, Bhangagarh),” he said.
Over time, their relationship deepened and they decided to get married. They even got approval from the parents of Gitashree Sinha to which they agreed. However, the victim Anjan Nath posed an obstacle to their relationship.
As Gitashree’s parents were not at all happy with the victim’s family, initially they tried to separate their daughter from the victim by using black magic and told Saurabh Goenka to find someone who is an expert in black magic.
Having failed in all such efforts, Gitashree’s parents impressed upon Saurabh Goenka to eliminate the victim. Saurabh Goenka agreed to the plan.
Saurabh Goenka then met Govind Ray, who is his acquaintance and also an auto driver, to enquire if any contract killer or any weapon could be arranged from Bihar. Both Saurabh Goenka and Govind Ray visited Govind Ray’s home district Samastipur, Bihar and arranged for one factory-made pistol which they purchased @ Rs 55,000.
“The pistol was sent as a cargo in a bus travelling from Bihar to ISBT, Guwahati disguising it as Chattu Flour bag and the same was received by Saurabh Goenka and Govinda Ray from ISBT. The weapon was later on kept at Arvind Roy’s house,” he also said.
Now, having procured the pistol, Saurabh Goenka, Arbind Ray and Govind Ray together carried out a recce of the route and places that the victim Anjan Nath regularly used to visit.
“Saurabh Goenka kept Gitashree Sinha abreast of the development so far and she had been actively participating with him. During the investigation, it came to the fore that Gitashree Sinha parallelly used a separate mobile handset along with a separate SIM to be in touch with her lover Saurabh Goenka and this fact that she had been in relation with Saurabh Goenka was known to Gitashree Sinha’s parents and her younger sister,” Barah said.
“On the day of the assassination, Saurabh Goenka at first exchanged his scooter with his friend Manish Sarma’s Yamaha bearing registration No AS 01 EB 3684. Using that Yamaha bike he started tracking the route of deceased Anjan Nath with the aid of accused Gitashree Sinha. Accused Gitashree Sinha was participating and co-operating with Saurabh Goenka by being in constant call with him with one phone and by regularly calling deceased Anjan Nath by another phone,” he further said.
Saurabh Goenka went to a place near JCB Showroom, Basistha and was waiting for the victim near a roadside tea stall. Meanwhile, Saurabh Goenka saw Anjan Nath at a distance coming on a bike and followed the victim on his Yamaha bike.
“After the commission of the crime, Saurabh contacted Geetashri and her parents by using his mobile number which was not known to many,” he added.
