Guwahati, February 3, 2024:In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Assam, the Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a set of restrictions to ensure the safety of the public and facilitate the smooth movement of emergency vehicles during the scheduled events. The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate various development projects and address a public rally at Khanapara veterinary college grounds on Sunday.
To safeguard vulnerable road users such as children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals, the following traffic restrictions will be imposed on February 3rd and 4th, 2024:
- Restriction on Commercial Goods Carrying Vehicles (4 wheels and above) on NH-27 and NH-17:
- Timing: From 2 PM to 11 PM on February 3, 2024, and from 4 AM to 6 PM on February 4, 2024.
- Restriction on Commercial Goods Carrying Vehicles (3 wheels and above) on Various Roads:
- Roads Affected: G.S. Road, Panjabari Road, B. Barooah Road, GNB Road, MG Road, AT Road, and DG Road.
- Timing: From 2 PM to 10 PM on February 3, 2024.
- Additional Restriction on Specific Roads:
- Roads Affected: G.S. Road, Panjabari Road, Sixmile-Narengi Road, Tripura (Gali) Road, Beltola Bazar Road, Beltola-Basistha Road.
- Timing: From 5 AM to 6 PM on February 4, 2024.
- Regulation of ASTC Buses/City Buses:
- ASTC Buses and City Buses will be regulated based on the traffic scenario in the city.
- No Restriction on Emergency Vehicles:
- There will be no restrictions on the movement of emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders, on both February 3rd and 4th, 2024.
These measures are implemented to enhance the safety of the public during the Prime Minister’s visit and to provide unobstructed passage for emergency vehicles. The Guwahati Traffic Police urge residents to plan their travel accordingly, considering the specified restrictions, and cooperate with the authorities to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
