KOKRAJHAR,17.02.2024:In a grim turn of events, two students who had been missing since the Saraswati Puja celebrations on February 14 were discovered dead in a forest area at Garotila Hills of Charaikola in Kokrajhar. The victims, both students of a government college in Kokrajhar, were suspected to have taken their own lives under mysterious circumstances, possibly due to complications in their love affairs.
The girl’s guardian had lodged a missing complaint when she failed to return home after attending the Saraswati Puja festivities in her college. Authorities were alerted, and the Kokrajhar district police, along with the crime branch, promptly reached the location to recover the bodies and initiate an investigation.
“The girl has been missing since the day of Saraswati Puja. Probably, the guardians had filed a missing complaint. I was not present at home at the time of the incident I came late night and was informed about the incident. Don’t know how the bodies of the two were found here today. Later, came to know that bodies of both the girl and a boy were recovered here in the forest. Don’t know about the body but the girl had passed her matriculation last year with first division and was studying in Science stream,” shared one of the kin of the deceased girl while speaking to the media.
The community, shocked and grieving, has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the tragic demise of the two students. The residents and family members are urging authorities to delve deeper into the matter to understand the events that transpired in the lead-up to this unfortunate incident.
