Tezpur, 20.01.2024 – In a two-day official visit to Assam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in various developmental programs and launching events, underscoring the government’s commitment to the welfare of security forces deployed along border areas. Shah lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing a series of welfare initiatives undertaken over the past nine years.
Speaking at the 60th Raising Day Ceremony of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in Tezpur, Assam, Amit Shah highlighted the significant steps taken by the government for the welfare of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other organizations stationed along the borders. The Union Home Minister emphasized the enduring commitment to duty and service by releasing a commemorative postal stamp.
“In the last 9 years, PM Modi has taken several steps for the welfare of all the CAPFs, be it CRPF or all the other organizations deployed on the border. Today, the Government of India also released a postal stamp. It will keep everyone’s devotion to duty alive in front of the people of the country forever,” said Amit Shah.
Recalling the implementation of the ‘One Border One Force’ policy during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shah discussed the establishment of SSB in 1963 after the India-China war. He highlighted SSB’s role in safeguarding the India-Nepal border since 2001 and the India-Bhutan border since 2004.
Today marks the 60th Raising Day of Sashastra Seema Bal, a force that has played a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and security of India’s frontiers over the past six decades. The SSB has been instrumental in preventing illegal cross-border activities, including smuggling and unauthorized entry, contributing significantly to the nation’s overall stability and peace.
Beyond border patrol, the SSB is actively engaged in fostering goodwill and cooperation with border populations. Their community engagement and social welfare initiatives have built a strong rapport with local residents, a crucial aspect of effective border management.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Assam not only acknowledges the dedication and sacrifices of the Sashastra Seema Bal but also reinforces the government’s commitment to the welfare and security of those safeguarding India’s borders.
