Guwahati: The Northeast is cementing its status as India’s sports hub. The Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) has officially proposed hosting the 4th North East Games in Itanagar from October 10 to 17, 2026.

What to Expect from North East Games 2026:

Massive Participation: Over 4,000 athletes from the eight sister states—including Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram—are expected to compete.

12 Priority Disciplines: The games will focus on indigenous strengths, including Archery, Boxing, and Weightlifting, alongside traditional sports like Thang-Ta.

Infrastructure Boost: Itanagar is undergoing a massive facelift to meet world-class standards, providing a blueprint for future National Games in the region.

For the youth of Assam and the surrounding states, these games represent the primary gateway to the Khelo India platform and international glory.
