Guwahati, 19th February 2025 :New shocking details have emerged in the massive APSC scam, exposing the extent of corruption orchestrated by the mastermind Rakesh Pal. It has now come to light that Pal allegedly paid bribes to cover up his fraudulent activities and manipulate crucial witnesses in the case.
RTI Activist Allegedly Bribed with ₹2 Lakhs
According to fresh revelations, Rakesh Pal allegedly paid ₹2 lakh to RTI activist Dulal Borah to withdraw his allegations. Dulal Borah had filed a complaint implicating Pal in corrupt practices, but sources reveal that he later retracted his allegations after receiving the bribe. This development sheds light on the widespread financial manipulation Pal engaged in to safeguard himself from legal consequences.
Stolen Luxury Car Used by Rakesh Pal and Senior Police Officer
One of the most sensational aspects of the scam is Pal’s involvement in using a stolen luxury vehicle. The then-SSP of Guwahati Police, A.P. Tiwari, was also accused in the same case. The car, which had been seized by the police, was allegedly used by both Pal and Tiwari for personal purposes. Reports suggest that Pal frequently traveled in this stolen vehicle to various locations, including the Satsang Bihar in Bhangagarh and the APSC office.
An FIR was lodged against both Pal and Tiwari for illegally keeping and using the vehicle. To escape legal troubles, Pal allegedly bribed Dulal Borah with ₹2 lakh, after which the RTI activist withdrew his complaint against Pal. However, the allegations against A.P. Tiwari were not withdrawn, as confirmed by APSC scam accused Mrigen Saikia in his statement to the Biplab Sharma Inquiry Commission.
Demand of ₹8 Lakh Bribe from Job Aspirant Sukanya Sharma
Further revelations indicate that Rakesh Pal demanded hefty bribes from APSC job aspirants in exchange for securing their positions and even for assigning them preferred postings. One such case involves Sukanya Sharma, who sought a position as an Assistant Research Officer in the Finance Department.
Sharma approached Pal’s associate Mrigen Saikia with her request, who then relayed it to Pal. Pal demanded ₹8 lakh in return for ensuring her appointment. However, as Sharma was unable to pay the demanded sum, she did not secure the desired post. This case is just one among many that highlight the deep-rooted corruption in the APSC recruitment process under Pal’s regime.
