GUWAHATI February 17, 2024:In a relentless pursuit to combat the menace of illegal drugs, Assam Police achieved a significant breakthrough on February 16, seizing five soap boxes containing a total of 70 grams of suspected heroin. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the law enforcement agency conducted a targeted search operation in Mirza, situated in Kamrup district.
During the raid, the Assam Police intercepted an Alto car and discovered the illicit substance hidden within five soap boxes. The estimated street value of the seized heroin is reported to be around Rs 1 crore, underscoring the severity of the illicit drug trade in the region.
Three individuals were apprehended during the operation and have been identified as Drona Gogoi, Nayanjyoti Saikia, and Sunil Gogoi. The suspects are currently in custody as the legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
