The state Urban Development Department has formed a five-member committee headed by the Thane district collector to look into incidents of fake development approvals being procured by builders in Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation and gram panchayat areas.
In the past, there have been complaints that developers in the region are fabricating development approvals to show that they have permissions for construction of houses and duping customers.
The issue was raised by BJP legislator Ganpat Gaikwad from Kalyan constituency in the Assembly after which the state government has assured that it would inquire into the matter.
