On enquiry, the husband said he and his wife got married around 20 days ago.
A woman fell off the third-floor balcony of her house in Southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri while trying to flee from her husband, who had allegedly physically assaulted her, officers said on Friday.
Police said they received a PCR call on July 5 around 11.15 pm regarding the incident. When a police team rushed to the spot, it found the injured woman had already been shifted to the hospital.
DCP (Southeast) Rajesh Deo said on preliminary enquiry, it was revealed that the woman had fallen off the third floor. Blood stains were found in the flat, staircase and rooftop.
The police team then reached Mazidia Hospital where the injured woman had been admitted for head injuries. “In the meantime, the woman’s husband, who was hiding in the building, was apprehended while trying to escape. He had blood on his clothes and his hand was profusely bleeding,” said an officer.

On July 5, around 10.30 pm, they quarrelled and he allegedly hit his wife on the head with a ceramic pot and a pan. “He further said he sustained injuries when she defended herself. In order to escape, the woman ran towards the balcony of the house and fell down,” said the DCP.
